The Rainbow Pride Walk, Calcutta 2006. #2

Calcutta, known to be the city with a tradition for tolerance, witnessed it's seventh Rainbow Pride Walk...in 2006. It is the only city in India, so far, to have hosted such an event.

Years ago, on June 27, 1969 , LGBT people had publicly protested police harassment in New York , a daily routine in their lives at the time.

These pride walks are a fallout of the New York incident held all over the world ever since..

To quote one participant: "The pride march is in celebration of our sexuality. To walk on the streets is a political move, to declare publicly our different sexual preferences."

Nicely seen, Sid-san... her eyes are mesmerizing and yu caught her at the height of her self-asborbtion arc. Big contrast with the easy smile of her boyfriend of the left. A fleeting moment expertly captured...

I think the winning element here is the interaction of the two people, amidst all that commotion. There is something in her eyes that says "stay back - I'm busy". This scene looks older than it actually is, partly because of the man's hairstyle.

Its personal, so I think this will be a good addition to your theme. Something, however, does not work for me. There is a lack of fluidity between the other people and the background. I cannot explain very well, but something does not quite blend.

This is nice one..
Sorry I am not regular to make commenst now a days since busy with my work.
feel is very intresting & strong as KAJ mentioned.
Even top portion is bit over exposed but it matchs to this atmosphere.
Your many Photos are lively & nearing to Sohrab.

Splendid image! I love her provocative glance to the mirror, her abstraction, her eyes only focused on her own reflection... meanwhile her friend smiles with benevolence her attitude...Interesting complicity...Excellent!
