Photographer's Note
Its hard to believe for me, that its been 5 years since I was in India. I would do just about anything to travel back here for a second time and spend another month taking thousands of photos.
On this particular day the sun wasn't out, and the skies were dull and grey, that's why I left them out of the frame. Its also why I composed my shot the way I did.
This is Humayun's Tomb in Delhi. Compared to the Taj Mahal, this is obviously not as famous, but its almost as enjoyable because there are so few people here. While the architecture is still strikingly beautiful and photogenic. Lots of photo opps here where you can test your composition skills and get a good workout mentally :)
In the WS are two more shots showing the Tomb in its full view.

Hello Craig,
The w/s photographs give us a very in-depth understanding of the whole building, its size and its beauty but, for me, you were right to choose this as your main post, it is more arty and sets our imagination working.
It's a good decision to restrict the sky when it is washed out and concentrate on the details of the subject. If you hadn't mentioned it, people would never have considered that was your reason for coming in close.
I really like the method of showing part of a building and only seeing the whole as a reflection. It makes us think, makes us imagine!
It's a really excellent composition, almost symmetrical except for the inclusion of the figures, who were right to be included as guides, for scale and animation.
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)
Hope things are calmer in your hospital with no more corona virus cases.

Hello Craig,
The WS photos show us the building in the way we are used to seeing it (and most others), but this is a much more attractive and smart composition. It shows your skill as a photographer, and it's much more fun to see the building upside down as reflected in the pool. You cropped it very neatly and did well to include the three persons. (I like to think you did that on purpose, not just by coincidence.)
Have a safe weekend.

Hi Craig,
The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the reflections and of the architecture of the Humayun's Tomb. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Craig,
A fascinating note and three superb photographs of this remarkable tomb from Delhi.
I know that everybody else likes your main photograph the best - and I agree that it is very appealing with the beautiful foreground reflections of the building but I am also very fond of your two workshop photographs, particularly the "full frontal" one in which I don't find the sky at all worrying: I think it looks fine as also does the building itself.
So really, to be honest, I love all three pictures and I would have been happy to have any one of them as a main image!
Brilliant!
Take care and stay safe.
Cheers,
John.

Hello Craig,
Shooting reflection photos is always a good solution on grey and cloudy days. These reflections are wonderful and the picture is even more interesting, bcause we cannot see the beautiful architecture and large dome that are reflected. Very well spotted and composed.

Hello Craig, I like all three shots, but this one has to be the main post imo.
The building is beautifully shown in the reflection.
It is an incredible tomb. I think that I would have enjoyed this, as it is so much quieter than the Taj Mahal.
I like the presence of the people, giving us an idea of the scale.
Good title.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Craig,
Two beautiful but slightly more predictable photos of Humayun's Tomb in the WS. I've seen this burial monument but forgot that it was located in Delhi.
Wonderful architecture!
Very nice picture showing the entire reflected image of the tomb.
Best regards, Paul

Bonjour, cher Craig,

Hi Craig,
Quite inventive framing. First level is directly visible and the rest as a reflection. No problem with the grey weather this way. Symmetric framing is the right choice here.

Hello Craig,
Rightly shown this reflection and the lower part of the monument, due to light condition, or as you written - "dull and grey" sky aloft.
Still managed a special outcome, good scale and fine clear view of the edifice mirrors on water.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hello Craig,
This is a great crop! We still get to see the whole building in the reflection, and it's more artistic than the usual full view. It's nice that there are only a few people in the scene, too. I also like the symmetry and all the arches. Take care!

Hi Craig
I missed this post when I was busy at work. Glad I looked at the older shots in your gallery today!
You should be glad weather was not always glorious during your trip as otherwise you maybe would never take this shot. It's really creative and has got the feel of old sepia photos.
A month in India! Sounds so much better than my week long whistle-stop tour in January this year.
Have a nice week
Kasia
