Photographer's Note

A hazy late afternoon shot of a wooden 'box-school bus' in a crowded Delhi street. At first sight this hand-pulled may look horrifying, like miniature cattle wagons full of school children. They are a feature of a type of culture far from the luxurious US iconic yellow school buses shuttling children often over large distances.

In some ways this interesting mobile wooden object, never seen in my life before, is an example of 'getting by with what you've got' and practical without putting too much strain on earth's ecosystems.......

Setting: 16 mm, 1/60 sec, F5, ISO Raw 200, 1544 hrs

Hello Abmdsudi, how is the 'box' being moved? I assume that it is on wheels, and is it being pulled or towed? I can't quite work it out.
The two scenes illustrate very nicely how congested the streets are, and how difficult it must be moving the heavy box through all the traffic and pedestrians.
A good composition where the box fills the screen and we have a real sense of the busy street.

How fascinating! I've never seen this kind of vehicle before. You pov makes me feel as if I were there, walking in the streets of Delhi.
Very true about the strain on the ecosystem... The more comfortable our lives become, the worse for the earth.

the fact the shot isn't sharp and its blurred kind of makes the shot more realistic in a way, as if you were surprised by the action and you quickly hurried to get it before its too late.
Good one. Amazing subject, and I like how its framed so tight, making it more real in the crowded streets. great post

Curious scene from the street in Delhi. it really looks horrifying. I have seen a lot st range things in India but never anything like this.

Many people in the photo here, but we can't see anyone's face here. It helps to create a rushed feeling here, just as the tilt of the composition does. The yellow in the middle stands out well from the surroundings.
