Photographer's Note
Diwali has been given the traditional name of 'festival of lights' because of the hundreds and thousands of small oil lamps or diyas lighted by many households. The burning of these diyas are considered to be the lighted pathway of a person's expression of happiness and also a manner of paying obeisance to God, the Supreme power for attainment of health, prosperity, knowledge, financial security and peace in one's life.
'The festival of lights' is celebrated with much enthusiasm and zeal in all of north India. In fact the festival of Diwali is regarded to bring the supernatural joy and brightness in a person's life with the hope of discovering light amidst darkness, achieving happiness in place of ignorance and spreading of love amidst hatred and violence. The tradition of lighting the diyas on Diwali holds much importance as in Hindu mythology the light signifies goodness and vitality.

Last year I was in India in this period, amazing candle lights on stairs,entrances...
I like hands and feet in frames, so I enjoy this one ; all these fingers, bracelets, soft light and the patterns of the floor, nice to see.

Hi Poulomi,
Excellent low light shot that would make any D-SLR proud. It once again goes to show that its the person behind the lens and not the camera itself which creates beautiful images. I think its all those hands holding the diyas that makes this such a joy to watch.
Best Wishes

I agree with Subir...I wish theleg is not there in the bottom. Otherwise this is a very good on with all those hands comuing from different direction. I have a similar one called "Charanamrita". The light is very well captured.

Hello Poulomi
The quality of the picture is brilliant. The high POV is defintely helps this composition, where the hands hold the diyas, as if they're spokes of a wheel. Bhishon shundor...kintu je theme ey chhobita diyechhen, tar mane ta ki?

Dear Poulomi,
Just roamed through your small, but very very impressive gallery.
This particular image of diyas has refilled my being with the spirit of Diwali.
It's lovely to see so many happy & beautiful hands celebrate the festival of light together.
Great POV with amazing clarity of saprkling diyas.
This one finds its place straight in to my favourites.
If you don't mind, I'd like to know more about the photo info of this image.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Poulomi, very interesting the note on the " festival of lights " and very nice the image that illustrates it. Love seeing the feminine and delicate hands supporting that I half-close the small sails to the table.
Congratulations friend.
Regards from Spain.
