Photographer's Note

the big statue (murti) of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the one who brought Gaudya Vaishnava Sampradaya (=Hare Krishna Movement) in the west in 1965.

This statue is exactly over his Samadhi Tomb (he disappeared in 1978) in Sri Krsna Balarama Mandhir complex in Vrindavan

the indian traditional custom is that the bodies of disappeared saintly persons are not cremated but buried, the body of a saint is saint because has been completely devoted to the Lord's service and to the other's service.. so it has not to be destroyed completely with cremation and it is a benefit for everyone to keep it (buried) to make of the place.. a pilgrimage place
