Photographer's Note

An Elder from the Konyak people in Northern Nagaland, India. He is the grandfather of the young man showing me around his village of Longwa. This villages King's dwelling, interestingly straddled the border of Nagaland and Burma, while the residents of both countries crossed the border uninhibited, daily . I was told that faded tattoos on the mas face signified that he once took heads as was common among many of the Naga tribes as recently as the 1960s.
