Desert glow.., a photo from Rajasthan, West

Photographer's Note

This shot was taken at dusk near Ladera village in Thar fascinating desert some thirty kilometers away from Bikaner just after the sun disappeared overlooking towards Pakistani border in the far distant.

I thought those camel wallahs and their indispensable ships of the desert, were just the perfect subjects for this shot. With the camera still primed for action and a quick check on suitable settings and clicked, one shot hand held as the evening was getting darker and cold.

I simply love the overhead pulsating colors enhanced by the intense glow of warm light coming from the flame which adds to the deeply profound and overwhelming effect of the scene with human soul,,,,.

Hello Abmdsudi - Now here is an atmospheric and evocative image. You have captured, what is to me, the romance of nightfall in the desert. Sitting around the campfire, with the flames from the fire leaping skywards and echoing the colours of the last light from the sun. Camels tethered and softly lit by the glow from the flames. Men seeking warmth and light and most likely preparing tea for refreshment. So beautifully poetic. Superb! Warm regards rosemary

Abmdsudi, this is a beautiful shot, with the horizon apparently stretching out forever. These men will have to travel a long ways to get there. The colors are very deep and subtle. I particularly like the way the clouds add a vertical element, guiding the eye to the horizon. Wonderfully exposed and framed. Thanks.

Once again, your gift for spotting, capturing and managing such beautiful light shines through in the creation of this superb scene. The camels really are the stars of the show, and I really love how their faces are lit by the licking flames of the fire. The subtle changes in colour through the sky are beautiful, and the fire itself makes an excellent other focal point. Beautifully done.

I like very much the feeling of peace and harmony conveyed by the dim lighting, the last warm colours of the day and the delicious glow of the fire. The camels are placed in an ideal way facing inwards, they look imposing and protective. Without them there would be an acute feeling of solitude. I love how the bright light of the fire and the dim light of the evening permeate the darkness. Watching the quiet scene with the people is captivating. Congratulations and thank you!

I was there but in the Sam dunes, near Jaisalmer, just a magical capture of daily life at the dessert
Love the silhouettes of the camels as a frame for the fire and the sky with the changing colors

You're capturing well this scene by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see a visionary spectacle in desert. It's effective for the camel which faces each other and bonfire in desert. And, the sky in the dusk draws out a beautiful atmosphere in this situation.

I was first drawn to this image by the sunset color and the strong silhouette of the camel. With closer look, I really appreciate the subtle details of the foreground element, the glow of light under the camel deck, the people enjoying the warm fire leading leading toward the beautiful sunset sky with fantastic and dramatic cloud formation.

A brilliant scene taken at dusk, enhanced by the light from the glow of fire! That is the key to the beauty as you managed to bring out the fine details on the faces of the men in the dramatic light. The clouds also were in your favour, as I would think that a clear sky would have been far less dramatic on the overall 'punch' of the picture. Excellent work!

Abmdsudi... I have no words for this shot, it is simply stunning, and one of the best in your already impressive gallery. The light thrown off by the fire seems almost to light up the sky at the horizon, as much as it lights up the faces of the people around it and the necks and hides of the camels on either side. The sky arching upward away from it is beautiful as well, with wispy clouds moderating an amazing blue. Right on the cusp between golden and blue hours here. Just outstanding.
