Photographer's Note

Evening Shops : During a recent visit to the central Calcutta area of Chitpore and Zakaria street,I happened to shoot the image of these traditional perfume (Attar) shops with their evening lights on and ready for business.The area is a bit congested due to heavy commercial activities,but is always bubbling with human activities till very late in the night.Some of the best Kebab joints in the city belong to this area.

Hello Farhat,
I am sure this street is not really quiet, even late in the evening, but in this photo it has a rather quiet atmosphere. Life seems to be going on at a fairly leisurely pace, people doing their late night shopping or just talking to the shop-keepers. For an observer there will always be lots of thing to watch. It is an interesting view filled with fine details and a very well exposed photo in the darkness.

An atmosphere of the street made in the evening.
Evening shops is a beautiful motif with lots of beautiful details from the streets and storefronts as an excellent background.

I'm sure you waited for a lull in the number of people so that you could get an uninterrupted view of the shops. The pace of life seems very tranquil, people browsing or chatting, just the type of atmosphere that is conducive to a pleasant shopping experience.
