Photographer's Note

Dance has a very old and rich tradition in India since ancient times. There are many Classical Dance forms in India given its diversity of culture, where the language that the people speak, the food that people eat and the clothes that people wear changes with just every 30 miles.

With waves of modernisation, (and urbanization) its not that the Classical Dance forms are dying but beside the classical dance forms, whats emerging is the new found taste, preferences and appreciation of Western & Other Dance forms in India...Jazz, Salsa, HipHop, Contemporary are becoming household names, courtesy the Reality Shows on TV.

But professionally trained Dance Teachers of these forms are yet to be counted as a handful. It would be nice to see how the cultural mindscape of India accepts and grooms talent in these forms so that the Modernity and Tradition blends to Excellence in the area of Performing Arts.

This is one such performance I attended in Talkatora Stadium Delhi. Photography was not allowed. I stole a few shots though
