Photographer's Note
Here are two more photos from my visit to the Chamundeshwari Temple on Chamundi Hill just outside Mysore in southern India in 1988.
Any of them could have been a main upload, but I picked this one because of these elegant elderly ladies. They had no doubt put on their very finest sarees for the visit to the sanctuary.
Behind them is a chariot which I supposed was pulled across the large platform outside the temple on special occasions, like a moving miniature temple.
Many years ago I posted another photo showing this chariot:
https://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=7&p=1271840
It is also seen in today's WS. Both photos were scanned from Kodachrome slides.

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
Lepa narodna nosnja i konstrukcija sa puno detalja, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa prolaznicima.
Dobar rad sa lepom fotografijom u radionici.
Zelim vam lep dan za odmor, sve najbolje.

Good choice to include the two ladies on the scene, Gert.
One lady was very curious...
The chariot has many elements mounted upon - but the two white horses captured first sight.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hi Gert,in fact both photos could be used as the main photo, the perspective in the WS is truly magnetic, with a beautiful background behind the seller. The temple with wheels is very big, I had never seen such a thing, I'm used to our processions with the Madonna on the canopy, very sober compared to what you show .. hehe ... great interesting work as always! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hej Gert,
What a weird and wonderful movable structure. And surprising that it just stays there when there isn't any special event. Foreground ladies on colourful clothes are well placed. The WS demonstrates the size of the wheel clearly.

Hej Gert
Very good quality for a scanned slide image. Excellent colour, saturation and sharpness. I saw similar chariots in Bali, albeit they were were much smaller. The 2 women at right do indeed add a splash of colour. Tfs!

Dear Gert,
Its a well-taken photo. You was lucky with the human presence, but also, you timed well eg the man's head doesn't 'reach' the horses' legs.
The WS is also good, just like your older photo. These photos made me think how many useless things we do for our beliefs...
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hi Gert,
You have captured well the serious expression of ghe women. The point of view is showing the details of the chariot. The light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day..

Hello Gert,
The two impeccably dressed ladies do capture immediate attention not only because of the clothes but because they are also strongly positioned. (I noticed that they were barefooted, as is the gentleman. Is that so they are ready to enter the temple or just the normal way of dressing?)
I became initially confused by the chariot because the horses were in the wrong place to pull it; then I realised that they were part of the moveable display!
The chariot is huge! Those wheels remind me of something off a siege engine, from long ago! One was obviously a reliable back support for the trader!
Again, fine scans from your slides.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Gert,
You must have been there on a special occasion. I have no memory of this large chariot.
It is a very nicely decorated chariot with a lot of carving in the wood (I suppose it's wood).
The two older ladies are dressed in beautiful saris and match the float perfectly. Great to see them both there at that moment.
When I see this photo, I remember that everyone in the spacious area of the temple was walking barefoot. It was one of those places with the greatest distance to walk barefoot (something I prefer to keep to a minimum myself).
Best regards, Paul

Hej Gert,
En udmærket komposition med den store vogn i baggrunden med de mange større og mindre skulpturer. De tykke reb viser hvor tung vognen må være. De to damer i deres farverige og smukke tøj er meget vel placeret i højre side.

Hi Gert
That "chariot" looks to be very old with those amazing wheels. A good photo enhanced by the 2 women. Good street photo in the WS.

hello dear Gert
a wonderful postcard from you again
the most important detail here is
that this capture has a great
movement...I have the feeling that
both women dressed in traditional
cloths are walking towards me...
and i can talk to them...
I agree with you that these
elderly ladies are too elegant for
1988 too many years ago...
regards

Hello Gert, I notice how large the wheels are as well as the thickness of the rope!
The chariot is fascinating with all its details, yet it is the two smartly dressed women that initially attract my eye.
Looking at the w/s picture, the woman is obviously confident that the chariot is not moving soon!
Thank you for sharing these interesting scenes.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Gert,
I really like these beautiful saris, and the two women are the stars of this photo. A friend from India once dressed me up in some of her saris. Each one was lovely, but a bit difficult to put on properly; I'm glad she was there helping me. :-)

Hi Gert,
I am a big admirer of the high quality scans from your archival photos. I suppose what makes a difference is a great camera you used and great quality of original pics.
If people were dressing as colorfully as these two ladies I would certainly be all for including more people in my photos.
Their dresses make me almost entirely to focus on them, but of course there is much more to discover in the frame.
Very well done,
M

Hello Gert,
I like both entries. In the main entry, the elegant elderly ladies hide the unceremonious street vendor quite well.

Hi Gert,
This looks like a juggernaut, as the English call it. It has an incredible amount of detailed carving and decoration on it. The two women add some colourful interest to the photo. Excellent scan with good sharpness and colour.

Hello Abmdsudi.
Good choice to upload this great photo as the main one, although the WS with a detail of the car and the saleswoman is also good, but here the dazzling processional car leaves us impressed, also these two ladies with those beautiful saris, are a beautiful complement in this first flat.
A magnificent coloring that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
Very good lighting management and very good sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

I think, on this occasion, the main shot wins for it shows two ladies and the WS only one. :-)
Seriously though... What a remarkable collection of colours! The blue and red matches the chariot and the green and yellow (lime?) are a bonus set.
Interesting to see the merchant in WS with the same choice of produce arranged in the same way as in the WS to your previous upload.

Hi dear friend Gert
A beautiful view of the daily life of the Indian people. Good sharpness and exposure. Thanks for sharing
In the past few days, I have been wondering why you took these pictures when you were young. I found out about this by reading the contents of your biography. I'm proud that you chose me as your friend. We wish the best for you
