Photographer's Note
The Thiksey Gompa (monastary)lies about 18km south of Leh. It belongs to the Gelukpa order of Buddhism. The monastary was reconstructed around 1430AD,and is the residence to about 80 monks. The monastary has some great artwork and also houses the two storey high Maitreya Buddha. There are wonderful views over the landscape from the rooftop too.
I used a polarising filter for this shot.

The sky look too saturated but overall the colours seem fine. The location chosen for this monastery is impressive. The buildings create a stair-like look on the steep face of the hill. Nicely composed image and interesting perspective. Thanks Wanda :-)

Hi Wanda. Spectacular place. Clear air and bright light have given the structures a light appearance and with your PoV, the whole thing looks as if it's about float to the heavens. Inspirational. One has to admire the devotion and labour that went into the construction of this monastery. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Wanda,
absolutely great! I love monastry images. Unfortunately I couldn't visit India this summer... I'll try again next year.
The best carachteristic of your shot is the POV, I think.
I put it in my favourites!

Hello Wanda
From the thumbnail picture, I thought it must be Potala Palace because of its location and Tibetan style architecture. However, your photo of this temple of the "future Buddha" is as beautiful as a painting with blue blue sky in the background. Thanks for sharing!

It looks like you were a lot luckier with the weather that I was when you visited this amazing gompa. It looks superb set against that deep blue sky, and the direction of the light was just right to show the monastery complex at it's best.
The only niggle I have is with the tall tree in the foreground - maybe it would have been possible to change your shooting position slightly to exclude it.
Other than that though, it's very well taken. Good work Wanda.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Wanda,
You have achieved beautiful contrast, thanks to your polarizer, to present this impressive monastery. It’s a tight framing that allows to see every buildings and their amazing interrelation. You’ve included just the right amount of sky, to complement the landscape, while keeping the attraction on the gompa.
Bye Wanda!

Hi Wanda,
very good and nice shot here, captured in a slightly diagonal perspective. The use of the filter was a good idea in order to minimalize the risk of overexposures on the bright buildings and also to enhance the blue of this nice sky.
Nice work! Tfs and best wishes.

Hi Wanda,
this is nicely composed photo with good PoV. To have a better depth and plasticity I would take the tree to be not so close to the monastery, I think that few distance to the right will be better. Anyway pleasant shot.

Hello Wanda.
This picture is very beautiful.
This is a splendid monastery. I watched your picture and felt that it seemed to be Potala Palace of Tibet. Contrast of the color of the monastery and empty blue is splendid.
Thank you for a splendid photograph.

HI Wanda,
Excellent sharpness and colors - very nice to see it! And the cables are almost invisible - which is also good! I see similar monastries in Tibet book - but I like this one due to the good perspective.
Thansk for sharing!
Have a nice week!

Wanda,
Saw this one at random, it reminded me so much of Potala Palace in tibet, Lhasa. Beautiful shot, so much details on all these house up along the cliff and the Monastery up at the top, against the blue sky. Really excellent quality for an image taken back a few years ago. Thanks
Way
