Photographer's Note

Yesterday, I went to an ancient palace in Denpasar as I would like to make a project inside the palace. Then I saw this old lady was weaving in a corner of the complexe of the palace. I asked her to take a picture and she's OK. As I'm using a small camera (Olympus OMD with a pancake lens) she seemed OK, not pay to much attention to me, and still enjoy her activity..

I like the whole mood of the image, nevertheless i find that the focus is not on the old woman's face...

Hi Yoga,
i don't understand the people who have veiwed this photo and not pass comment on it. i know art is very subjective and personal but this is stunning.

The look on her face, the motion of the spinning wheel, the untidiness of her surroundings and the fact that you have used B&W have resulted in a fantastic photo.
i know the focal point is not on the face but i think it just adds to the overall feeling of the shot as the woman is almost incidental and just part of the mechanism.

One of the most striking photos I've seen on here in a while, Yoga - the urgency in her face as she spins the wheel is well shown even if the focus is on the wheel rather than on her (which I think works nicely, actually). Beautiful contrasts and a gritty texture to this, perfect in B&W - the movement and clatter of the moment comes through perfectly here. Thanks.
