Photographer's Note

Semarang on the north coast of Java was one of the surprise hits of our trip. The old town near the train station has a wonderful buzz to it, with lots of crumbling colonial houses and a few that have been lovingly restored into restaurants or art galleries.

No obvious tourist highlights around, but a great town to spend a couple of days, or a lifetime.

This portrait was shot in Lawang Sebu, the gigantesque building that used to hold the headquarters of the Dutch colonial railway. It's the house of a thousand doors.

The lady was visiting, just like we.

Very sweet picture with this off centered smiling lady half hidden by the shutters. The soft light, the dark brown background enhances this spotted portrait!. Congratulatins

Hello Benny,
"No obvious tourist highlights" sounds just perfect. This is a fine photo of the well captured woman outside the door. The light falls nicely and I like the contrasts of her purple veil and the brown wood.

Un des plus beaux portraits que j'ai vu dans cette galerie et depuis longtemps. La fille est magnifique sous son voile de couleur pourpre et la pose est de toute beauté. Le cadre sombre autour d'elle est très avantageux.

Would have preferred this anywhere around the frame, centre not working for me, but to catch beautiful girl in hijab without intruding into her physical space is a job well done..you have managed to remain invisible in this one too..

its all about arranging the elements in the rectangle - sergio larrain.
