Photographer's Note

This is a picture of the silhouette of Mt. Fuji hovering over the Sinjuku Skyline, Tokyo just after sunset.

To many of Tokyoís residents and visitors, this picture is a sort of myth. Many of them believe this is some sort of digital trick. Reason being, you can see this view only during the winter months on a clear day. That too only during early morning and late in the evening during sun set. Many who havenít seen this donít believe the mountain is so close to the city. When I came to Tokyo, I too couldnít believe myself when I saw a similar shot in an advertisement hoarding. Only after having stayed for six months in the city, I saw it one december morning and couldnít believe this amazing sight. In the early morning, the icy top of the mountain hovering over the citysí skyline is something to be seen. This is also visible just after a typhoon passes over the city and clears all the dust in the atmosphere.

This picture was taken from the 25th floor observatory (free entrance) of the Bunkyo ward office building just opposite to Tokyo Dome. This was shot after one of the many typhoons that hit the city this year.

I used a long exposure of 4sec and aperture of F/22. Little White Balancing, gamma channel correction was made using Nikon Capture 4. USM applied using PS.
