Oldest Cherry Blossom tree in the earth
Jindai Sakura (神代桜)
The Yamataka Jindai Cherry Blossom Tree is one of the Three Huge Trees in Japan located in the Jisso-Ji Temple complex in Mukawacho Yamataka, Yamanashi Prefecture . The tree is a wild Edo-higan Zakura, which is estimated to be 1,800 or 2,000 years old but it still blossoms every spring.
According to folk legends it was planted by the 12th emperor of Japan who ruled until roughly 133 A.D. It's name Jindai means "Divine generations". The tree has a height is about 10.80m and girth of about 11.80m.
