Photographer's Note
Hello to all TE members. This is the second post of the “Nature in Macro” photo series, which was shot in Gunung Ledang in Johor on the 20th of March to 22nd of March. So, allow me to continue the fairy tales of Puteri Gunung Ledang.
Before that, with the first image dedicated to CHRIS JULES, so, here we are the second dedication to WES WANG. Hope you like it, Wes.
Introduction:
According to the History text during our school days, the ruler, Sultan Mansur once declared to his court that he desired to have a wife who shall surpass the wife of any prince in the world. When his ministers reminded him that he was already married to a princess of China and a princess of Java, the vain Sultan said “for one prince to marry the daughter of another prince – even other Rajas do that. What I desire is a bride such as no other Rajas possesses: that is the girl to marry. We desire to ask for the hand of the fairy princess of Gunung Ledang.” …………….. well folks, I needed to surrender here, and if you wish to get the rest of the story or the legends, please do log in to www.tourism-melaka.com/puterigunungledang.htm or search it by typing “puteri gunung ledang”.
Alright folks, let me continue with this shot, a very common mountain ant, a black ant, grows by the colony and conquer the earth in thousands. So, this little one got to my attention while minding its work around this green leave. From a “peeping” angle, I got this image captured, with a leave blocking in the front, putting a different PoV and focusing directly at the ant, thus giving the backdrop a cool DoF.
Merchanics:
Exposure Program – manual
Speed Value – 1/50s
Aperture Value – f/4.5
Focal Length – 90mm
So, folks, enjoy this cool macro shot and I will be posting the next image next week.
Cheers to all and good day.

Interesting affect. Its a bit difficult to see the subject of the shot, but I like the idea behind.

Well Eric its always interesting how one can fill a frame with out of focus objects and in focus subjects. This one is interesting to say the least. I think I would have gotten a little closer to this ant and change how I would fill the frame. In a sense its not right or wrong but rather a subjective thing to create a frame like this. For sure its interesting to say the least.. thanks for posting!

Hi Eric, I do like this picture very much. Thanks for the dedication. I am honored. This is an excellent macro shot. A well composed picture to well focused on the ant. Thank for the sharpness and clarity. I have never seen an ant in such close up to view the details.
One of my favorites.

Wow Eric...The Shallow DOF is amazing!...Just showing the ant & His "working plane" !!
The Painstackingly oriented POV, the Sharp focus...What a treat!.
By the way the story was impressive & I think you have made your efforts in preparing atleast some of his marriage gifts! :))
Congrats!

Hi Eric,
It's always very difficult for insects bring in image, and certainly a macro picture, I have much appreciation for macro shots, maybe and look to us friend "carper" he is a very great specialist in macro shots, we have to learn of each other!
I like your pictures maybe a little bit more close Eric!
Have a nice day,
John.

I hate ants.
They always come crawling over or into places I don't want them to be. And I don't want to be this up close and very personal. And worst, I see its eyes is looking at me, like wanting something. OK...even though I hate ants but you got what every wildlife photographers required from its wildlife subject. Facial shot and eyes focused. Well done Pak Eric. Ok...you can come with me then. Just don't go shooting ants all the time OK. OK?

eric, this is awesome ... actually, i'm glad to find your gallery because you're using the same macro lens that i intend to buy. so i'm interested to see the results you get.
i have to admit that the leaf in the foreground is quite annoying, but the ant is in good detail. i like the colour.
how much more of a "close up" is this lens capable. let me know your thoughts! :)
