Photographer's Note

This was during my walkabout at a small fishing village in Merlimau, 13km out of Malacca town, but the late afternoon didn't promise a great deal and was known during the month when rain was never far off. However the scene here can also be quite unpredictable when sudden change of lighting gives a nice break in sunlight and hopeful bit of glow in an otherwise rain-filled sky. Just long enough for this quick grab but how interesting things can change unexpectedly ..

That's an overall seaview overlooking Malacca Straits with the 'kelong' - a Malay word for an offshore fishing platform built on wooden stilts anchored into the seabed and primarily used by fishermen. For a small fee, it's a perfect place for anglers to fish and escape a few days in peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
