Drama over Teluk Bahang, a photo from Pulau Pinang, West

Photographer's Note

Teluk Bahang is a friendly fishing village in the north western tip of the island Penang. Teluk Bahang means "Bay of Heat Wave" and it really can be very hot on a sunny day. Since the 5 star de luxe resort Mutiera closed down some years ago, Teluk Bahang once again is a place where the clocks ticks much slower then elsewhere despite the fact the the famous beach resort of Batu Ferringhi is only 5 kilometers away. Due to the presence of jellyfishes Teluk Bahang is not suitable for swimming, but for the fishermen it is a very good port. This shot shows the shore line of the village towards the Penang hill at the left

Hi Urs, A well composed shot, with the rough jetty providing depth and drawing the viewer into the scene, with its towering clouds which look like tropical rain on the way. cheers, steve

Hi,I like these shots they convey the local atmosphere so well.The color of the water,the boardwalk and sunlit roofs all great.It could be the setting for a Conrad or Maugham story.The clouds are an interesting balance.Friendly greetings Wolf.

The closing of a resort can be harmful for the economy but certainly gives back the peace to the town. Your shot really makes it very transparent.

Hi Urs,
What a wonderfully dramatic sky is seen looming over the contrasting green hills that surrond the quiet island harbor.
The old wooden pier adds great depth as it winds towards the distant hills.

ein Anblick, bei dem mein Herz gleich höher schlägt! Du hast einen ausgezeichneten POV gewählt, um die ganze Schönheit dieses interessanten Hafens zu zeigen. Die wunderbaren Farben und ein sehr schönes Licht tragen ebenfalls dazu bei. Am besten gefallen mir jedoch die drohenden Wolken!

The clouds provide real drama in the skyscape with brilliant blue, that's the show really. I like the compo with good depth and perspective, the wooden path lead eyes into the bg and beyond, the boat is balanced the compostion. Fine capture, Congrast. TFS

Hello Urs,

Almost a summer image, when we sit middle of the winter with a lot snow and frost, we have a white chrismas, not really pleasant through the cold.
Splendid picture Urs, certainly the excellent clouds to the sky, also depth and perspective.
Sharpness and clarity be superb.

This is such inviting view when we are blanketed by snow in so much of the Northern Hemisphere. The color of the water and the dramatic sky collaborate to make Teluk Bahang an appealing place, especially if it has returned to being a sleepy village.

theres lots going on in this photo, and i like it that way, as my eyes are darting all over the place.
looks somewhat scary to walk that "plank" to the right..haha
