Photographer's Note

this is the backlane of a busy row of shophouses in Johor Bahru. hidden in the narrow alley, below hundreds of air cond units, it offers a variety of mouth watering good food.

i took this handheld, without flash, the best i can manage with shaking hands:)

Pretty steady hands you have Eleen, and a very characteristic shot of just how I imagine this border town (which which I've only seen from the train) to be. I can't make my mind up about your decision to keep in the bright street lamp. In some ways it's a distraction, on the other hand, creates just the right mood.

This is a very good one. I like the whole environment and the great colors you got in this night shot. I guess you should just rotate the picture a bit to left to make the horizon well positioned.

yea eleen, this is very nice photo. i'd been to that place before.. and most of the time it is very busy, full with people...noisy..busy..and busy... but u'd captured a more relax and lonely feelings of this street... i like the lighting very much.. my only critique is that the composition can be improved... make it more horizontally well positioned. thanks for sharing. -McMug-

I like to eat in the street, there are dishes you cannot find in restaurant. I like your shot, especially lighing of the neons.

Interesting street view that displays nice perspectives of street stands and air conditioning devices and is well balanced by the people at the tables, I don't know what to do with the lamp, I find it pollutes a bit the scene with this glowing effet, hard to tell...

Very nice Eleen! I like the viewpoint very much. I agree with richard that the street light is a bit bright and might be left out - I'd be tempted to play with the idea of a square format - not everyone's cup of tea but I still quite like this format.
