Photographer's Note

Here is a lady craving on a clay pot. She was so into her work that she was oblivious to me taking her pictures. Or maybe she is so used to being photographed by visitors before me... she looks awfully young, but yet so talented and dedicated to what she is doing. Out of curiosity, i ask her how did she learn the art of decorating pottery. Her reply came as a surprise to me - she came here to work with no prior knowledge of pottery making, she learned it there and then from her friends and colleagues! She uses very limited tools for carving and drawing. Too bad I didn't get to see the finishing touch of the pot she making then.

The completed pottery are a testament to these young skillful hands. If you happen to pass by Kuching, do drop by to admire these works of art and patience.
