Photographer's Note

We spent about one hour in the southern cave. There were only a few visitors so it was not a case of some interfering with the enjoyment of others. The 9,000 or more images clearly represented a considerable earning of merit on the part of donors. We headed down to the ground level to visit some local houses where families produce Shan paper and parasols, and watched men playing a local variant of bowls. Then it was a stroll among some most dramatic banyan trees. After breakfast, the following day, we made the 90 kilometres journey south by road to Inle Lake where I would spend two nights at the Inle Princess Resort.
