Mrauk U at sunrise, a photo from Rakhine, South

Photographer's Note

Mrauk U was once the capital of the kingdom of Arakan, one of the most powerful kingdom in history. The Arakan King "Min Saw Mon" founded Mrauk U in 1433. Mrauk U was a leading trade city during its time, and abundant networks of canals allowed small and large vessels to go by. It traded with Middle East, Asia, Holland, Portugal and Spain. The Mrauk U dynasty lasted for about 350 years.

Mrauk U was also known as "Myohaung" meaning the ancient city. In this ancient city, today, there are about 70 known and named ruined pagodas, whereas there are many more remaining unknown.

A month later I am still dreaming about these magical mornings in Mrauk U. The misty and smoky atmosphere at sunrise... What a dream!

Ce lieu est magique avec cette brume accrochée aux arbres et aux pagodes. On a beau l'avoir déjà vu plusieurs fois sur TE, on ne s'en lasse vraiment pas. Très belle photo!

Its almost hard to believe at first glance that this is a real scenery on earth, but it is! A wonderful early morning shot and without question a first classed photo by any standard. I live the composition with one of those pagodas in the FG while others scattered around. I love it.

Seen many times, but everytime i look at it and think.....i have (want) to go there. That morning fog what lies over the valleys and pagogoda's is truly mytical....must be an awesome pleace to be. Waking up early is not bad at all when you this as a result on your screen....wonderful location, wonderful photo.

certainement parmi les clichés qui me vont le plus rever sur TE. j'y associerai le Mont Bromo fumant, les Torres del plaine ou autre Santorin, mais ce coin plongé dans ces brumes semble sorti tout droit d'un conte pour enfant.
