Photographer's Note

Taken this shot while cruising slowly on a small boat, weaving in and out of several pockets of stilted houses line the banks of Inle lake and the narrow canals that feed into it. Some villages are even built on the water and access is by boat only while others are simple huts.

There are also multi-storey structures of sturdy teakwood and come complete with satellite dishes. What's most interesting was seeing these villages that exist in between the two worlds: land and water.

Location: Maing Thauk village

Setting: 200 mm, 1/200 sec, F10, ISO Raw 200, 0832 hrs and polarised
