Photographer's Note
Mother and son in old Bagan with fresh tanaka* on their face
* In Myanmar, tanaka is used as a decorative sunscreen and skin refresher. The tanaka paste is made from the pulp of a tree mixed with water.

A delightful double portrait, Véro. The b&w tonality works beautiful on this one and enhances the looks they are giving you with their bright eyes. The way in which the little one is holding on to his proud mother is cute, and the tanaka on their skin adds interest. Nicely done.

I like your picture Vero, however there is one "but"... it's not sharp enough. Maybe your could sharpen it a little bit? I think that you've focused on the neck and kid's hand and in my opinion you should aim the eyebrows. Was it in purpose? Besides, everything is nice for me. Good portrait, nice subject and expression. Thanks for sharing and please feel invited to visit my small gallery as well ;)

Good treatment of B&W, which fits the simple portraits, where we are naturally drawn to one feature, mainly these beautiful and expressive eyes. But Vero, Mother's Day was 1 or 2 weeks ago, today it's Fete des Meres!

Hello Vero,

Bonjour Vero! We were very much aware that last Sunday was mother day in France... We could see men and boys walking on the streets with flowers in their hands everywhere! This is a very nice and intimate family portrait. I especially like the expression of the little boy, he looks so innocent and curious, ahhh... Very suitable picture for this day. It was nice meeting you again in such a short time!

the expressions on their faces are beautiful vero. it's a very appealing subject.
i think a tighter crop might work well. remove some of the background.
using f2.5 does have disadvantages. such a shallow dof means that if your focus is slightly out, it's noticable. this shot looks soft (a touch blurry) but i don't know if that is your focal point being off, or if it's motion blur from your 1/80 shutter speed.
however, good composition.
