Photographer's Note

For the tourists in Myanmar it is a great experience to be around the monks. Sometimes the monks come up to you and want to practise their English or just learn about the outside world. But sometimes they also come and beg for money - that's where the trouble starts. Real monks are not supposed to do that. They must live on what the people give them when they go on their weekly or biweekly tour around town asking for alms. By talking to local people I learnt that it happens that young men dress as monks, go around asking for alms and a few years later when they have saved enough they go home and get married. So watch out - not all monks are real monks. But how can you tell?
