The moon over Luzhniki, a photo from Moscow, Center

Photographer's Note

This view was captured during my walk on the Vorobiovy Hills, from one of the best observation areas in Moscow.
Luzhniki Palace of Sports is an arena in Moscow, a part of the Luzhniki Sports Complex. Built in 1956, formerly it was called Sports Palace of the Central Lenin Stadium. Originally it had the spectator capacity of 13,700, but after the reconstruction in 2002 it reduced to 11,500. Today it is primarily used for ice hockey, figure skating and different shows and concerts. The only concert of Madonna in Moscow was also held there.

PS. The cropped view (without the moon) can be seen in workshop. I don't know which one is better:)

Well katia thats about half a moon only! The lights an shades have been superbly captured by you in this amamzing image. Simply love the golden shimmer and the outline architecture in the bottom part and the hues of nature on top. The farscape too is nice with the building lit up for the night. Great pov and dof. Katia,

I like this view with the Moon better than the one in the WS. I think the moon adds a little magic to the photo. This a great night time shot. I like the lights of the main building along with the lights of the city behind and around the sports complex. The only issue I see is that it seems a little tilted to the left. This may have been intentional but to me it is a bit distracting. However, overall this is a very nice photo.

I must say, I love night shots. The light seem to stand out so much. And we see details that one would not see during the day. Simply beautiful. About your ws, I think I like better this one, because we don't only have the building, it is in it's environment. And since it is full of light, in the wide view, I find it more balanced with all the black around it. And by the way, the moon add a little touch to the composition. Well done

Hello Katia,
A good nightshot with good definition. The moon does add a certain ambiance. However, there is not a lot of detail in the rest of the sky. Close call really, though I think the workshop is really to closely cropped.

Hi Katia, you got a quite highly rated picutre here and I have to agree with it so far. The night atmosphere is marvellous and obviously the moon on the right corner delivers a high profile. It enhances the quality a lot! The only minor problem is the slight tilt to the right and could be easily corrected.

Nice building structure, at first glance it does not look like a sports hall, I was thinking more of an indoors garden... You had a good PoV to provide a comprehensive view of it, and a sharp photo, to me the moon is a plus.

Hi Katia - I think it's better with the moon, since the moon isn't high enough for the empty sky to be excessive, the stadium itself is also attractive, there are very very few architectural gems freom the 1950's.
