Photographer's Note
Church of St George is a pure example of Novgorodian medieval style of architecture. It was made by the same team of architects as Uspensky cathedral nearby, also in XII century, in year 1165-1166. Building was made to commemorate victory in the Battle on Voronega River, in which Novgorodians were victorous over the Swedes. Ivan the Terrible, being very religious (despite all his atrocities, ridiculous thing), vizited this church and prayed in it, at least twice.
Church changed very little during all 900 years of its history. There are lot of POVs around, but I choosed this one to accentuate it's simplicity and elegance.
Church is not very big, actually.

Hello Uhu,
Beautifully lit view of this wonderful little church standing out proud against the dark blue sky. I like the contrast between the white walls of the church and the snow and, also, the shadows playing across the faзade. Superb definition.

The endless purety of this small church surpass all greatness of the gothic cathedrals. Nice colours. Pal

Very simple and very beautiful. Bright colours, great sharpness. It is good to see the footprints in the snow, they probably mean that the church is not forgotten but still in use. Thank you for the note too.

Hello Uhu
I had to smile a little when I read your note about Ivan the Terrible. Religion is a comfort to some and a bulwark to others. For him it may have been both, but we will never know.
Superb PoV, excellent crisp details, fabulous colours and nicely composed with the shadows of the branches forming diagonals

Ну не надо говорить, что на старых снимках было то же самое.Оптику поди поменял? Тени проработаны, детали все видны. Скромничаешь!

Hi Uhu!
Great shot!
This church is great. I like the light, the reflex of the brenches on the white walls. the hundreds of footprints leading to the church and of course the moon up in the sky, a great detail I think!

Hello Uhu,
The composition has pleasant symmetry, and the large white spaces are well exposed!
The wonderful blue sky makes a great background for the attractive architecture, and the image has a good feeling of depth and sharp fine details...

Hello Vlad,
The pristine white and the cerulean blue make a clean, crisp study of simple colors. In this simple, yet elegant image, you give us another of your favorite theme, "architectural portraits of churches." Since I share an empathy with you regarding religion, I am also able to appreciate this excellent image.
Warm regards from Virginia,
Bulent
