Photographer's Note
Hello
Today I thought I would take a break form the underground views of Moscow and give you a view of Moscow International Business District. It is rather like the equivalent of London's Canary Wharf. It is impressive in terms of the number of high rise towers such as this, which are clustered together to give the impression that the buildings are on an island. The buildings contrast sharply in architectural style with the Soviet, Stalinist style buildings that symbolise state power and authority which surround them. So much so, that the cluster of buildings stand out vividly in the heart of Moscow's skyline.
Here you can see three of the main buildings. The twisted, curvaceous building is the Evolution Tower, which stands some 255m tall. The building on the right of the frame is the Imperia Tower, which stands 239m tall. The building in the upper left corner is part of a complex of buildings known as the City of Capitals and stands 302m high.
I took the shot in black and white because on this day Moscow had thunder and lightning and a lot of heavy rain.
Enjoy.

Hi neighbour!
What an excellent architectural shot! Of course I approve of the monochrome treatment. You say you shot in b/w: is that right, or is this a result of a pp decision? And did you use a red filter?? I'm feeling positively vertiginous...

Interresting composition
very strong lines and the sky in the background gives the image a very moody feel.
Beautifully captured.

Very nice perspective to show these buildings with interesting and different architecture, from a well chosen POV! This crooked one looks great! Wonderful job!

Hello, Michael
This is a spectacular view of my three favorite buildings in the Moscow City project. I like the black-and-white view for a change. B&W is almost a lost art in travel photography. I made a few shots when I was In Moscow City last year, but your POV is amazing. Congratulations for sure!

Bonjour Michael,
ON ne se croirait vraiment pas à Moscou, car elle ne ressemble pas à celle que l'on connait normalement.Magnifique contre plongée qui donne toute une ampleur aux immeubles. Le noir et blanc est un très bon choix dans les circonstances.
Amicalement

Hello Michael,
Wonderful view, great composition and perspective.
Every city is trying to outdo each other in stunning high rise architecture and engineering. You have captured three which complement each other well.
cheers,

...or maybe Metropolis?
Hello Mike,
I like this photo, some fresh air after the visits underground. The shapes of these skyscrapers are quite amazing, none similar to another, an effect that may be possible when no city planners can stop the whims of the oligarchs. The bad weather provided you with very nice clouds, probably made even betray you. The B&W conversion was an obvious choice.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Mike
oh man...i'm so jealous :)
for some reason, not many people know about this new modern area in Moscow, I guess tourists like to photograph the USUAL onion domed buildings in the famous locations more.
but for people like YOU and ME, this is where I would actually visit first!
This place has been on my list for about 2 years now, perhaps one day i'll get there.
your shot inspires me even more.
excellent UP shot with the 3 buildings owning a corner of the compo. the twist is cool, the arch is cool, and the width of the other building is cool too. They each have their own style.
beauty shot my friend, you should have called me to meet you here lol
cheers

The B&W format works superbly here, Michael, teh light condition and te otable cluds gave even a special texture to the photo.
Modern-styled scrapers, all three of those, on an upwards POV, beautifully employed the picture space, added a nice sky reflection and neat outlines collecterd.
My best regards,
Ike

Hi Mike,
Modern architecture of Moscow is much less known that London for example. Thanks for showing! Very good looking trio and straight up PoV makes good justice for them. Twist of the one on the left is marvellous. And those clouds look great too.

Hello Mike,
This is the sort of shot that you relish, modern buildings with the chance to give an exciting composition.
I have to ask, did you lie on the floor to get this view?
I love how the buildings are arranged in the frame, heading together towards a strong point. The negative space has almost equal importance in this case.
B&W works perfectly seeming to add extra drama.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Mike,
Great B/W photo, with a moody atmosphere, and a neck-breaking POV. :-) I've seen that twisty building in several other photos, and I really like it. I love the way the tops of these skyscrapers come close to converging in the center of the frame. Very nice!

Hello Mike,
Fabulous composition in black and white. You stood in the perfect place to show all the three building . Wonderful sky too. Even if the sky was blue, the picture in black and white would be the right option, it enhances the structure. I wanted to see this district but the spiral building was still under construction and I saw it only from the distance, from the Sparrow Hills.
Gorgeous composition.

Hello Michael, excellent point of view; when I see shots like this, I do wonder whether the photographer has laid down on the ground, did you?
The b/w presentation helps us to concentrate on the buildings and their shapes, and the way that they look as if they might almost touch.
The cloudy sky completes the scene with its' contrasting texture.
Regards Jean.

Hi Michael
What a place and what a perspective, it really is like looking into the future to see these incredibly high ultra modern towers reaching into the sky. The clouds and the black and white give tremendous mood

Hello, Mike!
How are you? I was busy last week, no time to visit TE for checking new photos and posting something from my numerous folders ;)
Good title! Yep the capital's doowntowns look similar. Just fantastic composition, as a result of your skills and clever choice of the point of view! Perfect b&w masterpiece!
Special thanks for the postcard of your mom. It's so cute one! Best regards to your mom and Jim!
Have a great new week!
