Crazy with stairs, a photo from Saint Petersburg, Northwest

Photographer's Note

As maybe you know, I love spiral stairs. So I can't resist the temptation to show the stairs I saw in a palace in Tsarskoye Selo. I will upload tow other views in Workshops. I wonder which one would you post (if any).

Tsarskoye Selo was the town containing a former Russian residence of the imperial family and visiting nobility, located 24 kilometers south from the center of Saint Petersburg. It is now part of the town of Pushkin. Tsarskoye Selo forms one of the World Heritage site Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments. (Wiki)

No doubt this is the best version. The steep stairs need a vertical shape, and the ceiling (or wall) we see here is more beautiful than the ground floor. And of course the head makes the view more interesting.

Wow, juz dodalam do ulubionych. Uwielbiam takie graficzne zdjecia.
Ja tez zdecydowanie wybralambym to na glowny upload, ze wzgledu na ten turkusowy kolor ktory tak dobrze kontrastuje z czernia. Ale wszystkie trzy sa naprawde swietne, nadaja sie na wystawe w galerii.
Glowa czlowieka to fajny szczegol... i sposob na sprawdzenie, kto porzadnie oglada zdjecie, a kto tylko patrzy na thumbnail i pisze szybka recenzje... ;-)

Hello Malgo, I like all three shots, but for dramatic effect, I think that this is the winner.
Excellent sharp quality. I like that there is someone actually climbing the stairs.

A fantastic photo of this spiral staircase and the colour of the walls is just amazing as well and a wonderful backdrop. The circle at the top of the composition reveals the beautiful and richly decorated ceiling really well too.

when you posted this, you KNEW it would be a popular shot on TE haha, and why not, it really is eye catching and it will attract attention for sure. that bright coral reef blue is part of the reason too, its an odd colour but I like it. its not just the stairs though, its the fact you also captured the ceiling area too. lots to like in this cool spiral. cheers

Witaj Malgorzata Since I played string bass at college, instinctively I recognized the shape of a Bass Clef which is a musical symbol indicating the name and pitch of the notes on one of the lines! Your passion for winding stairways also brought out in the open the identity of a Russian spy, up there! Fantastic capture despite an uneasy lighting mix!

This is a great composition! The vertical format, with the sweeping curves of the railings and the turquoise blue color, is beautiful. It's also great that one man was leaning over when you took this shot. I also like the details on the ceiling. Great exposure and sharpness, too.

Almost nothing is more difficult than taking good pictures of stairwells. But when you have found the right POV, the result is often stunningly beautiful. You have an excellent hit with this crazy stairwell and the head of the man is a nice bonus.
