It was becoming late and I walked in the central part of Yaroslavl hunting more churches and monuments.
In this pedestrian street I found a sculpture of a bear recently created.There was a controversy about the sculpture because the city has other bear sculptures, one of them, located in a near square, roars as a real bear at each hour.
The bear with a spear & flag is the symbol of the city, it is told when prince Yaroslav, the wisdom, arrived in the area to found the city he was attracted by a bear and killed it.
I like a lot the sculpture, it has a human attitude and it is very beautiful.

Estava ficando tarde e dei umas voltas pela área central de Yaroslav tentando encontrar mais alguma igreja e monumento para conhecer.
Nessa rua de pedestres me deparei com essa escultura de urso que é bem recente. Há uma controvérsia com essa obra de arte, muitos dizem que a cidade já tem muitas esculturas de urso e de fato, havia uma numa praça vizinha, onde o urso de bronze até rugia feito um urso selvagem à cada hora.
A figura de um urso com a lança com bandeira é o símbolo da cidade, diz a lenda que quando o príncipe Iaroslav, o Sábio, chegou ali para fundar a cidade ele matou um urso que o atacou.
Gostei da escultura, o animal tem uma atitude humana e é bem bonito.

Hi Jorge,

The seated bear sculpture holding an apple adds a strong focal point. Good sharpness, colour and framing. The colourful props outside the sweet shop add a riot of colour. Tfs!

Hello Jorge,
The bear is a nice symbol of the city and this one looks seated comfortably. This may have been the most prestigious street of the city, considering how very neat and clean it looks. Or are all Russian streets as tidy as this? They are certainly not in Sweden.

Hi Jorge,

The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture and of the facade of the building. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

You show us wonderful city-cape view about this area, with the statue in bronze in foreground
Pleasant colours too, but yet a contrast through the old trees in foreground.
Nice depth and good perspective.

lovely statue of the bear. Interesting that some details are well polished indicating people like to touch them.
Cyrillic inscriptions add a nice local touch here.

Hello Jorge, it looks as if the bear is popular for photos, looking at the shiny leg, I imagine people sitting on it, maybe for a selfie.
It is a very good sculpture, an interesting shot.

hello Jorge, I haven't seen this sitting bear, nor the other one that roars every hour. I haven't heard any roaring. Quite funny. It is nice, looks like a tired man. And people like him too, touching his nose. Maybe it belongs to the sweet shop. . The shop name is Souvenirs by the bear and the castle of sweets. I am curious about what other churches you hunted.
