Photographer's Note
Like Levis 501s, Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars never totally go out of style, but like oversized sunglasses, they cycle in and out of being really popular. Like the sunglasses, this is a time for Chuck's, at least here in Taiwan. It seems you can't be a high school or uni student without owning at least a pair or two. This is even more true if you are female at the present time.
This shot is very dissimilar to my norm in that I did something I rarely do. I shot this blind. Simply, I put my camera on the floor of the MRT (subway) train, selected the AF option where the camera chooses the focus point (never having read the manual, I don't know what this is called) and snapped off a few shots. This was the result. I had imagined this shot before my subject had even sat down. She was quite a unique looking girl; her hair was died even blacker than black, she had black leggings on and really short Daisy Duke cutoffs over them. A ripped T and black make up finished her look. When she sat on the seat perpendicular to me, I had to take the chance.
As for the White Balance; I know it is not accurate. Accurate was easy, as the logo is pretty much pure white and I was able to get it accurate easily. However, accurate did not look "right" to me, so this is much closer to what my camera chose. If you don't care for the more yellow version, that is cool, feel free to let me know.

I like the tones the "yellow" version yields. Clever shot and it turned out very well. TFS

Nicely shot, Darren with ameaningful, smart note to back it up. I like how you're playing with tones on the yellow side of the scale (I've done my share of that myself, crawling after Simon...)
Really a fine, stimulating upload deserving of better appreciation IMHO.
All the best to you,
Francis

I like the picture but, having read your note, now I'm disappointed not to see the girl...

Love the mood of this Darren, also the idea, but hell, I would have loved to see the curious girl you describe in your note. At least in the WS!
I wonder what makes a shot so good, and am so speechless. Cannor really put my finger on it. But I KNOW this is good. Whether it was an intended fluke or not, it does strike and excite. I love it. Fresh and unusual.
I also like these shoes, though here they are not the rage...
