Photographer's Note
Bye bye Bangkok, a last taxi ride to Don Muang airport and that will be over for at least six months...
Byebye to South-East Asia, byebye to small novices and old monks, byebye hill tribes, byebye tom yam kung and Somboon's crab curry, byebye sunny beaches and cold Singha beer, byebye tuktuk drivers. You were starting to appreciate the traffic jam in Bangkok, the endless bargaining for RedBull t-shirts, even the backpackers in Khao San are now sounding like good guys, in a few minutes you'd even regret the Patpong touts... Thailand in november is now just a memory, a smell of lemongrass and the roar of a tuktuk...
You could hear someone saying "Flying man walking", this is what you'll see through the highway to your return flight : flights to Europe are always late at night and holidays ending in between the rainy season, so that's the view you're expecting to get each time you're flying away from Bangkok.

Tech : this is a vertical diptych of two shots taken at a 1 minute interval on the same taxi going to the airport.

This is cool Luko, and very much reminiscent of the final trip to the airport (although I have always taken the cheaper buses from Khao San. Not sure exactly what it is, but the second shot is the one I really like. Both have some very nice colors. I think maybe it is the good luck trinkets handing on the rearview mirror in the top photo, which to me take up too much space. Not that you could do anything about them, and relative to what many cabbies have hanging, his are quite discrete. The rain against the windows looks great in both shots and is one of the strengths for me.
Interesting to see you using slide film normally processed. I have always associated you with print film, or at the very least cross processed slide film.

Stop the crap, Luko! We know it's not rain, it's the TEars from your eyes!!! :-)
It can really be that bad. Only one cure: Going back.
It's a cool pix, which will be recognized by anyone who hates to leave. It all seems like a dream, the trip, and the only proof it was not, is that anonymous taxi ride under the rain, in the BKK traffic you finally are loving too muts that night. for good cause, it's slowing your way out!

Yup, that's Bangkok's signature-- billboard-lined spaghetti roadworks clogged with traffic. And the rain is a nice touch (why does it always rain when one leaves-- happened to me too in Chiang Mai, torrential downpour 30mins before we left for the airport).
The two shots have their own special appeal but combine really well into one presentation; the bokeh in the first one is absolutely gorgeous (would be great if you could see the driver's eyes in the mirror) and the light flaring through the crud on the window of the second mirrors the last of the setting sun so well.

Although they are not fantastic photos... you did a great collage with them. We can feel your mood for ending your trip. Very well done.

Original strange photo Luko. I like the colours of the street very much and the way the rains water falls in the windshield of the taxi. Great original composition. Another good work

A lovely presentation here. It makes me sentimental...
Excellent colours(!) I like how the future (top) is blurry, but how the past (bottom) is so clear. Bye, bye indeed.

i like those two images mostly because of colors - really splendid. and the mood is really special - nostalgic scenes... it reminds me mood of some american movies - new york, taxi, rain... cool stuff

That picture reminds me of all my final trips to the airport, too - always a little sad, hoping to get back sometimes, saying bye to running streets, the eye capturing small detils. The blurry twilight makes it all soo moody....:-)
Thanks for this nice feeling and reminder:-)

something about this shot and your title remind me of the movie, 'lost in translation' i like your focus on the buddha statuette in number one.

This IS so beautiful. Jonesing for some Luko, I'm forced to go through your back catalogue... not such an awful chore, really... this one has so much of the mood of departure, with the rain and the colours. It brings back the feeling so clearly. A very emotionally resonant work.

A+

I like this point of vue because it make me feel I am tere, in the car, surrounded by the city lights and this feeling is very overwarming...
