Photographer's Note

Last in a series of pictures taken at the floating market in Damnoen Saduak. The floating market held every day till noon on a khlong not far from the district office.

The town lies close to Bangkok and the market is one of the biggest in the area. For these reasons, it has become a popular tourist attraction and has lost much of its authenticity. Nevertheless, it offers many sights of interest to the avid photographer and is well worth a visit.

Hello Stephen,

I love these close-up details. Your viewpoint uses the boat to perfection, like a funnel, guiding towards the focal seller, with lots of time to absorb her wares along the way. The inclusion of the feet and shopping bag inform us of trade, without taking any attention away from the seller.

Hello Stephen,
a great candid capture, superb in its details, depth and rendering of colours and atmosphere. I like very much the lady's natural and significant expression as well as the context you have included in the frame. Although we have a close look at the protagonist we also get a comprehensive idea about the world around her. There's a wonderful vivid interaction between bright and dark colours. la donna sulla barca dovrebbe insegnare marketing a molte aziende, la presentazione della frutta è ben fatta e l'abbigliamento è, nella sua semplicità, ricercato, la bella camicia colorata si abbina molto bene al cappello. Proprio una brava mercante.

A good composition and close cropped look at the fresh produce the boat-lady is selling Stephen. Little details like the coordinated hat and shirt and the customer with bag and purse are good accents to your charming shot. I love the way the seller's eyes are firmly locked onto the purse. Bonjour Stephen,

Ils sont très beaux ses fruits. Surtout les bananes qui nous sommes surs on muri dans l'arbre plutôt que durant le transport. Comme toutes les thaïlandaises, elle est très jolie.

Hi Stephen,
I love this one, the expression on the ladies face is brilliant, she looks eager to sell, and as if she can sense a sale is near. The fact that you captured this point of view including so much of the boat is excellent. Were I there, I would happily buy some fruit, those bananas look so much more fresh than the ones I see in my local supermarket.
