Photographer's Note
Khiva is a city of approximately 50,000 people located in Xorazm Province, Uzbekistan. It was an important city along the fabled Silk Route or Silk Road.
Itchan Kala or Inner City in Khiva was the first site in Uzbekistan to be inscribed in the World Heritage List (1991).
In the centre of Itchan Kala, with the deep green dome is the Mausoleum of Pahlavon Mahmud, who was a poet, philosopher and legendary wrestler and became Khiva’s patron saint. His 1326 tomb was rebuilt in the 19th century and then requisitioned in 1913 by the khan of the day as the family mausoleum. Adjacent to it is the Khiva Silk carpet workshop opened in Qqozi Kalon Madrassah in 2001 as a joint project between Operation Mercy and UNESCO. It currently employs around 55 people in a town where unemployment is very high.
The Mausoleum and the Madrassah is flanked by the Islam Khoja Minaret on the right and the minaret of the Djuma-Mosque on the left

Hi dear Angshuman,
why you appear so rarely here? I like pictures with locals but I prefer when we see also typical architecture. Here it is just perfect, the Uzbek lady in her traditional dress and in the background fantastic architecture. Such a view makes me wish to visit the country. Khiva, Samarkand, I remember these names from my youth, when there were excursions organized in Poland there, in Soviet times. But I haven't been there, yet, I hope.

Hello Angshuman,
This is a perfect combination of people and lovely architecture. The woman gave you an interesting foreground to the otherwise dull shady area. Now the entire photo is a great pleasure to watch.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Angshuman,
The distance between the woman and the mausoleum is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mausoleum. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Bonjour Angshuman,
J'aime beaucoup cette image.Elle raconte une histoire avec cette dame à l'avant plan qui profite de l'ombre tandis que la mosquée à l'arrière plan brille dans la lumière.

Hello Angshu,
Seeing pictures of Uzbekistan, I always feel strongly attracted to the architecture of this country.
I especially like the combination of the bright blue and green tiles with the stone colour of bricks.
Apparently, the people (or at least the ladies) love to wear colourful clothing. Another attractive element.
Very beautiful shot of Khiva!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Angshu,
I like very much how the lady introduces us to a scenery of her city, I think that this photo is as much about her as it is about the cityscape. I like very much the way you distinguished and balanced the warmly lit area and the shade, we get a great sense of depth and excellent details in both areas. The quality and balance between warm and cold tones is wonderful too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
Ourania

Hello Angshuman!
I like the colorful lighthouse design of the 2 minarets. The Blue green roof of the Mosque is eyecatching. The seated Muslim woman at right adds life and scale and depth to the image. Tfs.

Hi Angshu,
you pick really great regions for your trips. Balkans are anyway on my list but looking at your pics from Uzbekistan I think this may be something what I would really enjoy.Fantastic architecture. I like the lady in traditional clothes in the foreground.
Very original presentation, this one seems a bit more off the beaten track. Very interesting.
Excellent work!

Hello, Angshu!
Even with the strong shadow, you managed the light very well! The architecture in the background is wonderful, and the lonely woman sitting in the foreground completes the scene perfectly! Beautiful job!
