Photographer's Note
We have visited Grenada on a number of occasions and it is a delightful country. We stay in a hotel in the north which has a small pond surrounded by lush greenery. I was lucky to catch this dragonfly as it rested. I wish I had capture the complete wings are the left but they are such flighty creatures I took my chance.

Hello David, you are excused the tiny bits of the missing wings, I know how flighty dragonflies are, you did really well to capture it at all.
I love the light reflected on its wings showing the flimsy material and pattern.
Good blurred background.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi David, a great gift for insect lovers like me in this cold winter! A very nice memory from your trip in Grenada, just a pity for the cut of tail on te right but the sharpness is excellent. This is a Carmine Skimmer, ORTHEMIS DISCOLOR, a very widely distributed species occurring from Texas and the Caribbean all the way south to Uruguay in South America. Thanks a lot and have a nice evening,Luciano

Hi David
These are so difficult creatures to capture on camera, especially so close up! Never mind the wings, we can see the tips on the other side! Lots of details to look and the out of focus green background complements the subject well.
Best wishes

Hi David,
Wonderful shot of this dragonfly. Details are sharp. Saturated pink body is special. And upright angle is just right.

Hi David
The wing tips may be missing but it is still a good macro photo with the dragon fly perfectly sharp.

Hello David, Excellent close up of this dragonfly. They fly away so quickly, I have never succeeded to take a photo of them.

Hello David,
I can imagine how thrilled you were to see and photograph this beautiful dragonfly. It is tough to keep them completely in shot when they dart around so quickly!
The details of its body and gossamer wings are pin sharp. Well done!
We had a green one in our garden last year; the first I have ever seen there! It appeared to be laying eggs so, fingers crossed, maybe some nymphs this year!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
