Lake Peten Itza, a photo from Peten, North

Photographer's Note

Lake Peten Itza is in north-eastern Guatemala near the famous Mayan site of Tikal. On the eastern shore is the small village of El Remate which has several small hotels and restaurants. We stayed here for a couple of days after exploring Tikal. There is a good nature reserve on the northern shore of the lake, Biotopo Cerro Cahui natural reserve. The is good 7 km trail that wind through rainforest up a small hill to a couple of miradores (lookouts) that provide a panoramic view of the lake and El Remate.

Hello Chris,
A very good composition making good use of the line of posts, which point directly towards the setting sun. The reeds in the foreground offer additional interest. Lovely warm tones. A very soothing image.

This is an amazing shot! Beautiful colours and wonderful composition with sun reflecting in the water. I am also surprised that only three person have pointed your image. Very good sharpness and nice frame. I really like it.

A beautiful sunset with nearly perfect composition (the sun could be a bit more to the left, the simple 1/3 rule can be applied here). Great colours and interesting detail.

I can't resist a good sunset and this is a beauty with enough added interest apart from the colours. The silhouetted posts also make a good lead-in all the way to the sun. There are even some birds on the distant ones. Well done
