Photographer's Note

In 1999 I made a road trip through Guatemala and visited several towns. One of them was Totonicapan, a picturesque and bustling city, similar to those in southern Mexico.
Being at 2500 meters above sea level its climate is temperate-cold, with an average of 12ºC.
Most of population is of Quiché ethnicity.

A good photo of the daily life in this busy street. Well captured and composed with even some motion blur for the boy at left to show his hurry. The red parts stand out nicely.

Bustling is a very good description of this street scene! The street is almost completely filled with people or produce, some people jostling for a way through, whilst others wish to stop and peruse the produce!
The clothing confirms what you tell us in your notes that this is a cool, temperate climate.
A fine daily life scene.

when I see this, my first thought is how chaotic and stressful it must be to live here, it just doesn't look and feel relaxed or calm. but this is also reality. I wonder how the young people have grown up, as this was taken 22 years ago
