Dreams of Foreign?, a photo from Kingston, Surrey

Photographer's Note

The Kingston waterfront is an amazing and underused resource. However, much of it is open, permitting great views of the Palisadoes on the horizon (see my note of two days ago), the airport and ships at anchor in the harbor. The man enjoying the peace of the scene, and perhaps thinking about going "farin" to make some money, is sitting only half a mile from Downtown Kingston. The piers and wharves that once filled this part of the waterfront with activity have almost completely disappeared, replaced long ago by the modern port, three miles to the west.

You picked the right spot where the trees seem to connect in order to nicely frame the boat and the man. Good composition, colours and sharpness.

Hi Mary,
the more I visit your gallery the more I sense an immense sensitivity in your images. Here it seems as if you are looking at the scenery with the eyes of the lonely man. A great composition with a melancholic mood. I also like the title. TFS!

maybe he imagines his distant friend on leaving ship,
