35 year old slide that I have scanned. Result might have been better with a more expensive scanner.

Even Vincentians enjoy looking at the beauty of their island. In the background is the Soufriere volcano (1,234 meters). This picture was taken from the leeward side on our way to Chateaubelair. I was fortunate enough to climb to the top and look at its crater. A few years later (1979) a violent eruption occurred and the residents of Georgetown had to move out.

Hello Paul,
I am not sure if this picture could have been so much better with a more expensive scanner. You have done a very good job, and the slide must have been meticulously stored in a dry and dark place. I like those boys in their caps in the foreground, and the way one of them has been watching you for 35 years. The scenery is truly enchanting.
I had a try in Photoshop to see if I could improve the picture at all. I found that with slightly less blue and green, a slight desaturation and with some sharpening the result was perhaps a picture that was a little bit clearer. But the difference wasn't grear, so I won't bother to do a ws.

This is just great as it is. I love that seventies feeling in this picture. I agree with Gert that a more expensive scanner would not have gotten you a better result. It might have been technically a bit, just a bit better, but there's a chance it might have taken away some of the picture's soul. Great shot, thanks a lot for sharing it here.

Hello Paul -

Very much like the camera - it is not the scanner, but the quality of the image and how the USER utilized the scanner. I think the quality of the image is OK; you have nice smooth tones, little noise, and no color cast. On top of that the image is a very nice snapshot showing us what the Caribbean Islands and the people are (were) like. Well done on both ends.
