Photographer's Note

The view of the modern part of Berat, from the way up to the Castle. The most impressive building with the dome, on the right side, is the University of Berat.
The building of the University of Berat is one of the construction works completed by PMG & Xhindoli Group. The use of advanced technology for the creation of massive structures, starting with the main façade with 20-meter-high columns, capitals on top with overall dimensions 2.5X2.5X1.15 meters and quadruple basis all covered in Vratsa marble create a grandiose décor and most of all, they have high resistance to atmospheric corrosion.

The entire cover of the façade is graced in grooves. The windows are finished with marble cover and shim according to the model. The construction of interior premises starting with the Doric columns and capitals of the main hall, coverings and paving with marble of the types Xhasa Red, Vratsa, and Babylon, have not only created furniture, but they turned into a work of art thanks to various designs completed with artistry.

I do not know when it was built, but I suppose it is quite new.
On the left you can see the minaret of the Lead Mosque (Xhamia e Plumbit), built in 1555 and so called from the covering of its cupola. near the mosque is the Orthodox church, also looking new.

Nice overview of the town, interesting monument with the dome, the roof in the Fg is photogenic and gives depth at your photo not very photogenic the tank but it's like that ! Tfs.

Hello Malgo,
An extensive view over the new town stretching toward the distant mountains. The new university building reminds me of a number of US state capitals. I like the varied colour contrasts and the excellent sharpness.

Hello Malgo,
According to Wikipedia the university building was finished in 2009 and took the first students in the academic year 09-10. I am a bit surprised that I don't remember this impressive building with the big dome from my visit in 2009. Maybe the dome wasn't there yet, or my memory is failing me. It's a nice photo anyway, all the way from the nearest brick roof to the distant mountains. Nice light, pleasant colours.

Un très beau choix de point de vue sur la ville cernée de montagnes. La lumière étant très forte en arrière plan, cela enlève un petit peu de contrastes et de détails.

This vantage point offered a great view of the city and its many houses. The university building is the most eye-catching building indeed. The gently shapes hills make a great background too. I like the subdued light which rendered the colours very nice and natural.

Hello Malgo,
A very different Berat from the one we usuallly get to see.
Not exactly very attractive but it's good to be warned.
The large building with the dome looks pretty new. Built to impress, I think.
The mountains make a very good background and the most beautiful part of the entire photo is found in the left lower corner: wonderful tiles and a special chimney.
But it's good that you show us all aspects of the city how it looks like today. After all, I thought that the classical view of Berat represented most of the city. Time to wake up for me.

The university building looks nice, but I must confess modern Berat is not as charming as the touristic parts you have shown earlier. The photo is a terrific panorama, though.
