Photographer's Note

The woman is enjoying the artworks exhibited in Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition "Mahjong - Chinesische Gegenwartskunst aus der Sammlung Sigg", Museum der Moderne in Salzburg.

The work in the BG is "The Second Situation" by the young Chinese Artist Geng Jianyi.

This photo goes to the psychiatrist of TE in whom the oceans usually get lost...

Geng Jianyi (1962 Henan) was among the early stars of the contemporary art movement in China. In the 1980s, as a member of the so-called Pool Society in Hangzhou, Geng worked alongside artists like Zhang Peili and Wang Qiang producing sarcastic, cynical and inventive and politically loaded examinations of life. The group's "Gray Humor" piece were popular in the 1980s and Geng's laughing faces became a symbol of the era and perhaps even a precursor of the images that Yue Minjun later adopted for his art works. In the 1990s, Geng was often overlooked or forgotten, but he is once again creating imaginative works in photography, oil and installations, examining the details of life and exploring questions of identity. He now lives and works in Hangzhou and teaches at the China Academy of Fine Arts.

What a great catch Deniz - your timing was perfect. I like the way the womans head is tilted upwards, intently studying the artwork - or maybe posing for you a little, who knows! B&W the only choice. Best regards, Roberto

Çok hızlı başladın izin yaramış anlaşılan, ancak bir fotografın doygunluğa ulaşmadan diğerini girmen ne kadar doğru bilemiyorum. Dün girdiğin fotograf çok güzeldi bu ise bir harika, yazık olacak bu hızla girersen güzelim fotograflara.

Great photo Deniz! The composition in trio - looks like a flag - is marvelous but what striking me is the expression you get from the woman. It builds a whole story. Very effective b&w choice. Like this one a lot.

Hi Deniz, this picture has a tremendous potential and i think you exploited it well, very well ... perhaps not at its best. Those 3 vertical layers work well with the centered humanized one between those shouting portraits, this is a clever shot and i really like it. In a PP work or perhaps settings while shooting i would have try do get more luminosity on those portraits, to get them fully contrasted in order to provide more impact .... if you except the white centered layer all tones are grey, dark. Anyway for sure Deniz i'm "chipotating" (french word) and for sure i love your picture, i'm just trying to express what could have also been done. Another try would have been to simplify this compo with only two layers : the twos of the right.
Excellent, i would love to see dozen of pictures like that each day on TE

Hello Deniz,
Somehow, the woman between the two works seems dubious... Maybe she has some doubts... Or simply, you "click" just at a small bit of time between two different expressions of her. Who knows! Anyway, I find the juxtaposition of the "real", but somehow not very expressive person and the two painted faces so vividly expressing emotions very interesting. Who is more alive here?
Your timing was judicious and perfect here.
I'm on the impression that there is a sligh blue cast over the photo, especially visible in the middle part. It gives a "cold" look that is interesting to reinforce the "two worlds": passionate and restraint emotions.
Lastly, This photo goes to the psychiatrist of TE in whom the oceans usually get lost... ???

This photo goes to the psychiatrist...I love this sentence, also I love woman's expression in the middle. Ok, the other two are for the..."white jacket" , but the woman in the middle is something else.
Excellent combination my friend , your sharp eye and your patience made once more the... miracle.
Perfect timing and perfect frame gave excellent result.

kendini salmıs barbara streisand mı bu teyze?... yırtınırcasına gulen bu iki kanka arasında iyi kontrast olusturuyor asık suratıyla... bu foto bana bedri baykamın "this has been done before" serisini hatırlattı... cunku aynı tatta fotolar gormustum sanki TEde... yine de wonderbra!

Very impressive photo with the B&W and the contrast.
I love the composition but maybe having the whole width of the works would ahve been better (if possible).
I think it's advantageous that the photo is not very sharp.

dün te-tr sayfalarında geriye giderek ancak onbeş sayfaya bakabildim....ve hiç fotoğrafını göremeyince önce- birazda yorgunluktan olacak -niye yükleme yapmadığını düşündüm...bugün müthiş bir avusturya serisi ile karşılaşmak hoş oldu doğrusu...işte bu aralar aslında en çok ilgimi çeken tarz,önde tek bir hareket ve aslında daha hareketli olan ve seyredeni bir anda çarpan arka plan....

Amacım başkaydı TE'yi açarken ama ana sayfada bunu görünce atlayıverdim. TE'de olmadığım zamanlarla ilgili en iyi şey, o zamanki fotoğraflarına ilk gerçek bakışımın basılı haline olması... Onun için şöyle diyorum: "Ekranda da en az basılı hali kadar güzel duruyor."
Bunun dışında da sanırım gördüğüm en "sesli" fotoğraflardan biri bu...
