Photographer's Note
After the greeting posts I want to continue my travelogue 'A night in Wien'. In the foreground you can see part of the Rathaus. The blue lights come from an Audi salon in front of the Rathaus. In the background there is the Votivkirche. The lower part of it was under construction.
This photo belongs to my favourites, the only thing I don't like in it is the strong light at the entrance, but I could do nothing with it!
I would be pleased if you told me your opinion about the photo!
The Rathaus is a building in Vienna which serves as the seat both of the mayor and city council of the city of Vienna which also serve, in personal union, as Governor and Assembly (Landtag) of the State of Vienna, a state with the Austrian federal system. The Rathaus was designed by Friedrich von Schmidt in the Gothic style, and built between 1872 and 1883. On the top of the tower is the Rathausmann, one of the symbols of Vienna. Facing the Rathaus is a large park, the Rathauspark.
The Votivkirche in Vienna, Austria, is one of the most important neo-Gothic religious architectural sites in the world.
Located on Ringstraße in the district of Alsergrund close to the University of Vienna, the origin of the church has an unusual history derived from a knife-attack on Emperor Franz Joseph by Hungarian nationalist János Libényi. The emperor was taking a stroll with one of his officers Count Maximilian Karl Lamoral O'Donnell von Tyrconnell on a city-bastion, when Libényi approached him. He immediately struck the emperor from behind with a knife straight at the neck. Franz Joseph almost always wore a uniform, which had a high collar that almost completely enclosed the neck. It so happened that the collar of his uniform was made out of very sturdy material. Even though Franz Joseph was wounded and bleeding, this collar basically saved his life. Count O'Donnell struck Libényi down with his sabre.[3] O'Donnell, hitherto only a Count by virtue of his Irish nobility, was thereafter made a Count of the Habsburg Empire, conferred with the Commander's Cross of the Royal Order of Leopold, and his customary O'Donnell arms were augmented by the initials and shield of the ducal House of Austria, with additionally the double-headed eagle of the Empire. These arms are emblazoned on the portico of no. 2 Mirabel Platz in Salzburg, where O'Donell built his residence thereafter. Another witness who happened to be nearby, the butcher Joseph Ettenreich, quickly overwhelmed Libényi. For his deed he was later elevated to nobility by Franz Joseph and became Joseph von Ettenreich. Libényi was subsequently put on trial and condemned to death for attempted regicide. He was executed on the Simmeringer Haide.

Hi Marton, The architecture is stunning &, even more so in this mainly beautifully lit photo, the blue hour is superbly captured, with great detail & very good composition, the light under the arch is a little strong, however still a great shot, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Beautiful architecture. I am currently trying to do nightshots and have found it's very easy to over expose the lights. Perhaps the 3 seconds was a touch too long for the lights? Rgds, Leilani

Szóval szép a sárga kék fények keveréke.:)

Szia Marci!
Gyönyörű fotó, eredeti kompozicióval. A fények és az atmoszféra mesés! De ami a legjobban tetszik: a szemet gyönyörködtető és változatos részletek, a kandeláberek, a dombormű, a szobrok, a virágok, a háttérben ragyogó templomtornyok....mindez annyira bőséges, hogy három képre elég lenne. Nagyszerűen elkapott építészeti fotó, Gratulálok! Szép hétvégét!

Hi Marton,
Beautiful filled frame with rich colors! Good eye! The only negative about it I have is that it is a little bit tilted but that is probably because the cam was pointed a little up. Great stuff though, keep it up! Gilbert

Hi Marci,
the image is full of interesting and well illuminated elements which enhance the whole composition. I like the compression due to the strong perspective. I think there is no other way to include such beautiful architectures in the same shot. Very good work!

Hi Marton!
Very nice picture with a beautiful view.
The exposure is great and I lik your point of view.
I only think the frame doesn´t match to the composition so well, but that might be a matter of taste, so nothing to worry about.
Anyway, the picture is very nice!

Hi Marton,
This is a superb photo. You captured an enormous amount of interesting details in a very good crop. Very good composition, nice includion of the twin towers on the right. The illuminations of the buildings are beautiful and the light is really well managed. I like it a lot, splendid photo work!

Hi Marci,
It is a good night capture, with an attractive and magic result. The combination of architecture, light, red flowers and sky at the blue hour works wonderfully.
In my opinion, I believe that if you had used a smaller opening (f11 p.ex.), combined with a bigger exposure time, that is possible with the help of the tripod, you had obtained a beautiful effect of stars in the lampposts and the points of light.
Test in your next night capture.
Nevertheless, your photo is good, has graphical quality and good luminosity.
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Marton,
Wonderful blue hour shot of Wien. The details of the Rathaus in the foreground are perfectly captured but the towers of the cathedral seem to be a little blurred probably due to the f 3.8 opening. However good job my friend.
All the best for the new year!

Szia Márton,
Amazing nightscape from Vienna. Beautiful Votivkirche and the Rathaus have been expertly composed within the same frame making good use of the compression effect of telephoto at a 136mm focal length. It's also good to have chosen time of not pitch-dark sky.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi
