I took this picture this afternoon, during a cold but sunny day minus 3° Celsius, this was a good bicycle trip 32 KM

Around Damme

The Eighty Years' War (1568-1648) left many traces in the landscape of the Zwin region: cities were fortified; fortresses, fortifications, lines served to hold back the enemy; areas were flooded. Between 1615 and 1620, the center of Damme was fortified with a seven-star wall. The ramparts have been a defining feature of the city to this day.
After Damme's military importance disappeared, various biotopes developed in the canals. From open water, floating docks, moist meadows, meadows and reed beds to swamp forests. A beautiful piece of nature! A large part of the fortress is now nature reserve 'De Stadswallen van Damme'. Part of it has been reconstructed and is open to the public. An educational walking path runs through the site, which covers 28 hectares. Info panels reveal both the cultural-historical and ecological aspects. Nice to know: the walking path is also accessible for wheelchair users and prams.

Interesantan pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
lepo mesto u hladnom danu sa suncem, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i uhvacenim, trenutkom.
Dobar tekst o koriscenoj tehnici i elementima snimka.
lepa fotografija, veliko drvece i kula u pozadini.
Zelim vam lepu i mirnu noc, sve najbolje u novoj nedelji koja je pocela.

Hallo John,
Er was nog volk om van het zonnige winterweer te genieten.
Misschien toch wat fris om op een bank te zitten ... Anderzijds zaten ze wel in het zonnetje en mogelijk windvrij.
Prachtige tinten van het struikgewas en de bomen contrasterend met de heldere blauwe lucht.
Zeer aantrekkelijke compositie met de vele bomen op de voorgrond en het zicht van de kerk van Damme er tussenin.
Een mooi detail zijn de vele kleine twijgjes aan de boomstammen.

Hello John,
A very well composed photo where you placed the view of the tower neatly between two trees. The light and colours are also beautifully handled. I didn't immediately notice the persons sitting on a bench, or those walking by, but considering the bright sunshine I imagine they wouldn't feel so cold at -3°C. I actually find the thin twigs growing from the trees' trunks rather funny. They make me think of very hairy legs. ;-)

Hallo John,
Het mooie zonnige winterweer is weer voorbij, hoewel het erop lijkt dat we niet lang op lenteweer hoeven te wachten na een korte en natte overgangsperiode. Het warme licht is hier heel mooi voor de bomen en de kerktoren, zeker met de blauwe lucht op de achtergrond.

the previous photo allowed us to better see the architecture but this one is very impressive due to the warm colors. The trees make a fantastic decorative pattern framing the view behind. The church of course raises the interest, and we have also people who add some more life to the scene.

Beautiful winter sunshine and such a wonderful array of colours. It's a relaxing time for a walk and a very welcome distraction from what's outside. Lovely tree trunks in the foreground draws the eye to the church behind with touch of snow patches.

Hello John,

The warm colours are beautiful, not suggesting the -3degrees temperature! Only the glimpses of the frosty field confirm that it is a cold day.

I like how you have filled the f/g with tall, dead grasses, perfectly linked to the similarly coloured tree trunks, where together, they make a stunning frame for the b/g church, bathing in bright sunlight.

The figures are a delightful addition, moving almost stealthily into the scene but brightening it with their presence.

Spectacular composition, to which the golden sun at the end of the afternoon, gives beautiful warm tones to the image in which the effect of the trunks of the trees is very remarkable and which at the same time are a beautiful frame for the beautiful tower of the church.
