MOERKERKE 10 km of Bruges

History
Moerkerke was founded in the early 12th century and had a chapel that depended on the parish of Oostkerke. There would also have been a keep that was the seat of the local lord, later Moerkerke Castle. Between 1134 and 1160 the area around Moerkerke was largely flooded. At the end of the 12th century, the southern part of Moerkerke was diked in by Branddijk and Damweg, and the Waterpolder was created. Around 1228 the area north of the dyke was withdrawn from the sea and the Maldegemse Polder was created. In 1234 Moerkerke was already mentioned as an independent parish.

Hello John,
It's a nice view across the plowed field where the brown ground is slowly turning green with the new crop. In the distance the green ground melts smoothly into the trees, where the church is the dominating view. The light clouds are quite scenic and rightly fill half of the photo. There is a pleasant warm light and a strong sense of spring, even early summer.

Nero, a boy whose mother lost and loved to paint, was living a poor but happy life with his grandfather. One day, he took Patrasche, who was abandoned by the side of the road, and took extreme care of its. Patrasche is back to life.
It's a beautiful local scene where i can feel the fairy tale.

Een heel mooi gezicht op dit plaatsje, waarbij de kerktoren mooi boven de groene bomen uitsteekt. De wolken doemen ook mooi op in de verte, maar verder was het een prachtige dag.

Hallo John,
De tractorsporen zijn nog zichtbaar in het omgeploegde veld.
Het lijkt een zeer rustig dorpje waar nog voldoende landbouwgrond is.
De kerktoren rijst mooi boven de boomkruinen op en wijst richting lieflijke zomerwolkjes.
