Puppet show free for children on the market in Bruges
Young and old are attentive to this game

But the history of puppetry is much richer. And West Flanders plays an important role in that story. West Flemish companies are particularly active in the pedagogical theater. Since the 1950s, enthusiasts have been tinkering with puppets and bringing their educational stories for children and young people. In addition, these puppeteers show a lot of creativity. They invent scenarios, make dolls, design decors and play masterfully on their audience.
But the West Flemish puppet theater is more than just a clap theater. For example, it is a Bruggeling that draws the first puppet show in the Middle Ages, the Flemish writer Albrecht Rodenbach is a big fan of the puppet show, and West-Flemish are the basis of companies that harvest international praise today.

Hello John,
I think shows like this amuse the parents just as much as the children. The grownups become like children again for a short while. You captured this view from a good point, slightly above the square, where the audience are seen along a half circle around the "stage". There is a pleasant atmosphere and lots of nice colours.

It is difficult to show both the puppet show and the kids watching the show clearly. While it is hard to see small details of puppets, excitement of the children is quite clear! Beautiful scene from the market in Bruges.

Dag John,
Een heerlijke zomerse foto uit je rijke archief. Leuk om naar het publiek van de poppenspeler te kijken. De allerkleinste zitten voorop en alle ouders kijken afwisselen naar de poppenspeler en hun eigen kroest.
Zo’n aantrekkelijk straattheater zie je niet vaak meer.

Hello John,

This scene doesn't surprise me for I have always found that youngsters are always captivated by puppets. You have clearly shown the interest that has been generate by this group.
You have positioned yourself well, so that we can share the scene with some children but there are still many whose expressions we can see! In addition, the puppeteer is strongly placed in the frame.
A sharp and interesting photograph.

An amazing colourful find it makes a cute shot and a bit of fun especially to enthusiastic children and the general crowd. Love your viewpoint by positioning the puppeteer strategically at the thirds. Very interesting infor shot and thnks for sharing, Congrats

Een uitstekende impressie van dit poppentheater in de buitenlucht op deze zonnige dag. De vele kinderen en hun ouders kijken geboeid naar de man in het midden. De foto werd vanuit een goed standpunt genomen en is mooi in balans.

Les marionnettes ont toujours été pour les enfants une joie manifeste. En France, il y avait Guignol (Guignol est une marionnette à gaine française créée à Lyon vers 1808 par Laurent Mourguet. Le terme désigne également par métonymie le théâtre de marionnettes comique dont Guignol est le personnage principal, formant avec Gnafron et Madelon le trio récurrent des pièces du répertoire classique. Je hebt mooi je plaats gevonden in de kring van toeschouwers om de poppenspeler en zijn publiek te tonen zonder dat er iemand voor de camera kwam.
Ieders aandacht gaat duidelijk naar het poppenspel.
Mooi dat deze poppenspeler voor zijn jonge publiek doeken als zitplaats voorzien heeft.
Het historische gebouw op de achtergrond voegt meer charme toe aan de mooie foto.
