I took this picture (01.02.2021) in the morning, +3°Celsius, a bicycle trip of 40 km. (an electric bicycle)
A grey bad day for take picture, misty and light rain, but my trip pure for my health.

HISTORY:

Kaprijke a village in East Flanders against the Netherlands borders, 15 km of Ghent, a quiet village

Church interior of Our Lady Ascension.

Building
It is a three-aisled church with three-sided chancel closure. The built-in tower has two sections on a square plan, above which three octagonal sections, covered with an octagonal spire. The tower is made of brick; this one was painted white. The interior is also white.

Furniture
The church has mostly 19th century paintings, as well as a Christ and the allegory of the church of 1711, which comes from the older church. There are also twelve 18th-century Stations of the Cross. The organ is from 1724, was made by Louis Delhaye and the organ case by Claudius Chapuy is from the same year.

Hello John,
The room is quite bright with its large windows and mainly plain walls. I like the modern stained glass windows and I appreciate that there are not too much decorations. The pulpit however is very beautifully carved in the dark brown wood. The photo has a fine depth thanks to the row of columns.

The length of the nave is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the main altar and of the pulpit of the Our Laday Ascension church. The surrounding light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Hallo John,
Heldere en scherpe interieurfoto van deze kerk waarin de mooi versierde preekstoel gebleven is en de muur rechts op de foto door een modern glasraam versierd wordt.
Het schilderij boven het altaar is van een totaal andere stijl.
Omwille van de COVID-maatregelen heeft men hier blijkbaar de meeste stoelen aan de zijkant geplaatst.

Hello John,

It was a good idea to venture inside the church, rather than trying to deal with the poor weather conditions outside.
The light is very good and you have been able to capture some excellent details.
Is that the pulpit on the right? It is a very beautifully, carved feature and makes a very effective focal point. In conjunction with the pillars, it makes a very good sense of perspective.

I can see that efforts have been made to socially distance members of the congregation, in an effort to deal with the pandemic.

Hello John, the elevated pulpit with its canopy makes a strong focal point for this interior shot from the church.
The stained glass window on the right looks modern and contrasts with the more traditional painting above the altar.
It is a lovely light and airy church.
