Mars was the ancient god of war, & the red skies are apt in this image. Strong & simple composition. I like it.

Hm, your note reminds me on one old poem here. Poem is “Death of Petar Svacic”. He was the last Croatian independent king and he died in the war against Hungarian king Kolman on the mount Gvozd in May 1097.

A wonderful capture of the invading cloud. The effect of invading is also a consequence of the chosen position of the mountain peak, right in the center and closer to the bottom of the picture. Great colors, too.
