Photographer's Note
I stopped at Vukovar, Croatia on a Danube River Cruise. Our guide indicated that the town was under siege during the war. The water tower is a symbol of the town's resistance. According to the guide, each day the water tower was shelled and at night it was repaired. Better to have the tower shelled than have the shells fall on the town. The tower is being restored as a memorial.
