Photographer's Note

This is St. Dominiques Cathedral in Split and the accompanying bell tower. The shot is taken at night (obviously) in digital B&W.

The cathedral waw formerly the masoleum of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, built in the 3rd century. It sits inside of his palace where he spent the last years of his life after abdicating. Ironically, Diocletian was a big-time persecutor of Christians. Later, the city of Split grew around the palace and many buildings are built right into its ruins. Thought the are of interest is fairly small, it's some of the most unique architecture that I've seen in Europe and well worth a day or two.
