Photographer's Note
This bell-tower has a very interesting history. The narrow street leads straight into Diocletian' Palace. When it was built in around 300 AD, the room above the arch was used by the guards of the western gate. Much later, in the early Middle Ages, this narrow space was turned into a small chapel. In the 11th century the tower, considered to be the earliest example of the Romanesque style in Croatia, was added.
